Southern Dialect
The south midland dialect region follows the along the Ohio River in a southwest direction. Its highest point is southern Indiana, then runs south through Kentucky and Tennessee, and moves westward through southern Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
The gulf southern dialect region stretches from Eastern Texas through some of Alabama. Parts of Virginia also have this dialect. As shown in the map part of Louisiana is does not have the gulf southern dialect but rather the coastal southern.
